LanguageBench respects your privacy and collects only the personal information reasonably necessary to operate our website, process purchases, deliver digital content, provide customer support, maintain the security and reliability of our services and, where you have chosen to receive them, send relevant communications. We do not sell your personal information.
Who is responsible for your information?
LanguageBench operates this service and is the controller of the personal information described here. You can contact us about privacy or exercise your rights at sales@languagebench.com.
Information we collect
We may collect your name, email address, billing country, purchase and transaction details, the packs and editions you purchase, records of delivery and download access, messages you send us, newsletter choices, and technical information needed for security and rate limiting such as your IP address.
Your basket is stored locally in your browser. LanguageBench does not currently use advertising analytics or advertising cookies. Stripe may use information and cookies on its hosted checkout under its own privacy notice.
How and why we use it
We process purchase, delivery and support information because it is necessary to perform our contract with you. We process records needed for tax, accounting and consumer-law compliance because we have legal obligations. We use limited technical and service records for our legitimate interests in securing, maintaining and improving a reliable service. We send newsletter communications only where you have consented, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
Who receives it
We use Stripe to process payments, Brevo to send transactional and opted-in marketing email, Cloudflare to host and protect the website and its D1 database, and Amazon Web Services to store and deliver purchased files. We share personal information with these providers only where necessary for them to provide their services to LanguageBench.
Some of our service providers may process personal information outside the UK. Where this involves a restricted transfer under UK data protection law, we use an applicable lawful transfer mechanism, such as UK adequacy regulations or appropriate safeguards, including approved contractual protections where required. You can contact us for further information about the safeguards applying to your personal information.
How long we keep it
Secure download links normally expire after seven days. We retain purchase and transaction records for as long as necessary to fulfil purchases, provide customer support, resolve disputes and comply with applicable tax, accounting and legal requirements. Other records, including enquiries and security logs, are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which they were collected. Newsletter information is retained until you unsubscribe or we otherwise no longer need it.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct, erase or restrict your information, receive a portable copy, and object to processing. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.
Your right to object: you may object to processing based on our legitimate interests and to direct marketing at any time.

Information needed to provide the service
An email address and the payment information requested by Stripe are needed to complete and deliver a purchase. If you do not provide them, we cannot supply the content. Newsletter signup and educator enquiries are optional. LanguageBench does not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
